Frankie Gould's body of work, whether literal or abstract, is about the attraction of seductive shapes, bold colors, lines and textures, all conveyed with a definite whimsy element. This exhibit is a continuation of her fascination with the insect world.
“Insects range from invasive pests, to blood suckers, wood eaters … pollinators and beneficial. I find their shapes, textures and colors fascinating.” In conjunction with her accomplished art career, Gould is the director and professor of Communications and Public Relations at the LSU AgCenter. “Insects have been an integral part of my agricultural communications career,” Gould states, “I have used seductive shapes, bold colors, lines and textures, with an element of whimsy to bring you Bee, Bug & Borer.”
Frankie Gould has been an Artist Member of Baton Rouge Gallery since 1985. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kansas State University, and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska.
This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Malaika Favorite, April Hammock, & Isoko Onodera. All works from these four artists are on view, free of charge during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun), through December 27, 2019.
