Leslie Friedman, “Kerplunk” 12x12, 2019

FIRST WEDNESDAY OPENING RECEPTION: 09/04, 6 - 9 P.M.
artICULATE aRTIST tALK: sUNDAY, 09/08 AT 4 P.M.

Historically, Leslie Friedman’s work has been focused on identity and how one views themselves versus how they are perceived by others. As a printmaker interested in making work on non-traditional media, like composite floor tiles like one would see in hospitals or cafeterias, & with a heavy influence in the vibrant pallets of pop art and counter culture, her work is often brightly colored and punchy in content.

This body of work is an evolution of that process which combines previous prints and elements from her past. She has cut up the works, and used the pieces to experiment with color and form in non-objective ways using traditional tiling methods and quilting patterns to give new life to the works.

Friedman has been an Artist Member of Baton Rouge Gallery since 2016. She earned her Master of Fine Arts at Tyler School of Art, Temple University.

This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Dawn Black, Danielle Burns, and Kathryn Hunter. All works from these four artists are on view, free of charge during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun), through September 27, 2019.
