Jamie Baldridge creates psychological scenes by manipulating and constructing photographic worlds that externalize the inner dialogues of consciousness. His dark and contemplative imagery often confronts his culture, and the human condition.
”The images I create and the stories I write to accompany them are rather Catholic interpretations of the fables and tales I have devoured throughout my life and serve as an externalized dialogue of my own internal doubts, philosophical musings, and obsessions,” says Baldridge about his work.
“Implicit in my work is an invitation to the viewer to experience a moment of pause, wonder, confusion, or even a vaudevillian transcendence above the tedium of daily life, and yes, it would be nice if they got a little bruised along the way.”
Baldridge has been an Artist Member of Baton Rouge Gallery since 2014. He earned both his Master of Fine Arts and his Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Louisiana State University.
This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Samuel Joseph Corso, & Nonney Oddlokken. All works from these four artists are on view, free of charge during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun), through October 31, 2019.
