Artist Statement:

”Recent events and circumstances have made me more aware of the natural world and more contemplative about my personal history and relationships, where I’ve come from, where I’ve been, where I’m going on this journey. The pandemic, political upheaval, and a changing climate threaten so much of that which I’ve always held sacred and immutable that I sometimes lament what has been lost and fear for what remains to be saved. I feel the weight of my ancestors’ gaze peering through the ages into this reckless tangle of the present and I am dismayed by how we arrived here.

Through this tumult, I find comfort in every sign of balance, redemption, and hope, however small or insignificant. Nature soothes even as it’s threatened; love nourishes even as it evolves. Our paths are defined by personal choices that lay foundations for those who follow.”

DuBose makes original prints, paintings and mixed media works on paper. He has had artist residencies in Germany, Canada, Ireland and the United States. He lived in Ireland for thirteen years, where he taught printmaking at the University of Ulster in Belfast and served as the Director of Seacourt Print Workshop for many years before eventually returning to the United States. DuBose teaches art at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and continues to exhibit regionally, nationally and internationally. His works belong to numerous public and private collections, including the AIB Collection of Modern Irish Art and the Colorprint USA Collection, among others.

This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Jerimiah Ariaz, Christopher Scott Brumfield, & Scott David Finch. All works from these artists are on view, free of charge, during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun) from March 1st - 31st.
