Blue Lynx Prize Winning Poet Coming to BRG in April
On Sunday, April 15, Baton Rouge Gallery's Sundays@4 series will welcome Houston-based poet Randall Watson for a reading from his latest book, The Geometry of Wishes. As with all Sundays@4 events, this engagement is open to the public free of charge and will begin at 4 p.m.
Randall Watson's forthcoming book of poems, The Geometry of Wishes, will be published by the Texas Review Press in March of 2018. As much a subtle narrative sequence as it is a collection of lyrical meditations, an ecstatic generosity arises from an elegiac base, moving through our inescapable patterns of loss to emerge as an invocation of our mutuality, our tenderness.
His The Sleep Accusations received the Blue Lynx Poetry Prize at Eastern Washington University, and is currently available through Carnegie Mellon University Press. Las Delaciones del Sueno, translated by Antonio Saborit with an Introduction by Adam Zagajewski, was published in a bi-lingual edition by the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico. His novella, Petals, (as Ellis Reece) received the Quarterly West Prize in the novella. He is also the editor of The Weight of Addition (Mutabilis Press), an anthology of Texas poetry. His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in various journals and anthologies, including Charitan Review, Chelsea, Shenandoah, The Georgia Review, Literal, The New Criterion, North American Review, Portland Review, Tampa Review, Texas Review, and Far Out: Poems of the 60’s.
The artwork found on the cover of Watson's The Geometry of Wishes is a piece by BRG artist member Jacqueline Dee Parker.
